How to Make Panutsa (peanut brittle)-food and recipes
Learn how to make peanut brittle or panutsa with 3 basic ingredients brown sugar, peanuts and hot water. (vanilla extract optional).
Yield: One 8"diameter
Ingredients
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Raw Peanuts w/ Skin
3 tbsp Hot Water
1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract (optional)
Procedure
Over low flame put the sugar and water. Cook until sugar is completely dissolved. This will take about 7 to 10 minutes. You cannot adjust the fire to medium or high it will burn the sugar fast.
Once sugar is completely melted add vanilla extract, this will add beautiful aroma to the peanut brittle but this is optional.
Add the peanuts and cook for about 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
Once peanuts are cooked and the consistency is thick turn of the fire.
Apply some vegetable oil onto a base of a baking pan or you can also use any flat surface and line with parchment paper.
Put the cooked panutsa and spread. Leave until it completely cool.
And there you have it! A homemade peanut brittle (panutsa). Perfect for a dessert!
