How to Make Siomai (Pork and Shrimp)-food and recipes
Today I wanna show you how to make Siomai, traditionally Siomai is a Chinese dumpling which is served as a Dimsum, it can be made by pork, shrimp, beef, chicken or mix. But its been adopted by a Filipino community and it can be served two ways, it can be serve steamed or fried.
In this recipe we will reveal the secret on how to make the most delicious siomai, almost 90% close to chowking siomai, master siomai, siomai house, and other leading chinese restaurant here in the Philippines.
Yield: 12 pcs
Ingredients
250 g Minced Pork (20% Fat)
50 g Chopped Shrimp
40 g Minced White Onion (2 tbsp)
1 tsp Chicken Powder
1 tsp Oyster Sauce
1 tsp Sugar
1/4 tsp MSG
1/8 tsp Salt
2 tsp Cornstarch
12 pcs Siomai Wrapper (Learn how to make home made wonton/siomai wrapper)
Procedure
In a medium size mixing bowl combine all ingredients and mix well.
In separate bowl put about 2 cups of ice and place the bowl with the mix on the top of it.
Add the cornstarch and mix until all ingredients come together.
Put in the freezer for 15 minutes.
Start wrapping the siomai. Put 1 tbsp of siomai mix onto the wrapper and form the siomai. Please watch the video to learn how to shape the siomai.
Steam for 8 to 10 minutes.
Place in a serving plate and serve with calamansi, soy sauce and chili garlic.
